- Why do you want to study in the USA?
Studying in America has always been a dream for me. South Africa is a beautiful country and it is my home, however, I do not see a future for myself. I do see a future for myself in America, and it would be a dream come true if I could study there.
- If you weren’t a softball player what would you be?
I would probably be playing another sport. I have always loved the sport. At school, I played field hockey, swimming, netball, and athletics, but softball was my main sport. So if I didn’t play softball I’d probably be playing one of the other sports.
I was a goalkeeper in field hockey and played for my district
I have only ever been to one school in my life, so going to America would be a huge change but a change I am looking forward to.
I have never broken a bone, well touch wood!
I was born in Cape Town, and then moved to Johannesburg when I was 5
Currently, I live on a plot( basically a smaller version of a farm). Here we have geese, rabbits , peacocks, and even an emu and ostrich.
My last interesting fact is that my surname, Pestana, means eyelash in Portuguese.
Maddie comes to BRUSA Sports as probably one of the highest ranked softball players in her region in South Africa. Playing for the Saints Softball Club she has made the provincial side and captained it for the last 2 years. Maddie is also a top student and one of the Curro Aurora school top student-athletes.
We are really looking forward to helping her find the best university possible to make her dreams come true and to help her gain her degree.
